KOCHI: Thiruvananthapuram-based engineering graduate Aaryan Gokul is passionate about films, be it appearing in front of the camera or working behind it. Having come up with two short films already, his interest has now led him to come up with a new music video, that too a Tamil romantic melody.

The video titled ‘Unn Kankalin’ is scripted and directed by Aaryan Gokul, who has also acted in it along with Archana Ravi. The music is composed and sung by Gokul Sreekandan, with female portions rendered by Shwetha Varsha. The cinematographer for the video is Vinayak Gopal. “Within two days of its release in Youtube, the video has already crossed over 50 views with positive feedbacks,” said Aaryan.

For the engineering graduate, films has been a passion even before his college days.  Aaryan, a native of Pattom says , “I was interested in scripting and acting during my school days itself. Earlier, my interest was only confined to using my mobile to make videos. During college,  I used to take part in art festivals, which was the only time arts-related activities were held, as ours was a professional college.”
After passing out from Rajdhani college of Engineering, Attingal, in Mechanical Engineering, Aaryan worked on ‘Freakante Monjathi’, after which he worked for some time in Dubai. It was after coming back that the youngster made ‘Prasavakkali’, his second short film. Aspiring to be in feature films one day, the young lad is focusing full time on his dream now.

The first short film ‘Freakante Monjathi’ was meant to be a commercial entertainer, while the second is a social issue-based one, says the youngster. “My first short film had got around 17 lakh views. Prasavakkali was a short film which dealt on the topic of racism. Speaking of a husband-wife relationship, it also dwells on the negative racist mindset that a person can have,” said Aaryan.

The music video has been getting a good response, says the youngster. He continues, “Whoever has seen the video has been giving a positive feedback including Shaji Kailas and singer Unni Mukundan.” He continues, “I am interested in both acting and direction. I am currently working on a feature-length Malayalam film, which will have one or two Tamil songs. Currently, scripting is in progress.”
