Kerala women’s panel registers suo motu case

The Kerala Women’s Commission on Monday registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident in which a woman suffered serious injuries after she fell down inside a private bus at Udayamperoor.

KOCHI: The Kerala Women’s Commission on Monday registered a suo motu case in connection with the incident in which a woman suffered serious injuries after she fell down inside a private bus at Udayamperoor, near here. Commission chairperson M C Josephine also directed the Kochi City Police Commissioner to take appropriate action against those involved in the incident.

Jayshree Surendran was injured after she was thrown off balance when the driver of ‘Christen’, a limited stop private bus plying on the Erattupetta-Ernakulam route, suddenly applied the brakes. Though she pleaded with the bus crew to take her to a hospital, they instead forced her to alight, according to reports.  
Though the alleged incident took place on January 20, the Commission got to know the victim was shying away from filing a complaint fearing possible consequences.It also came to light Jayshree, a daily wage worker, had been admitted to hospital with serious injuries suffered in the incident.
