‘Saksham’ concludes with mega ceremony

KOCHI: The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s (BPCL) ‘Saksham 2018’, an awareness programme on the responsible use of fuel and fuel-efficiency products, which was inaugurated in Thiruvananthapuram on January 16, concluded in Kochi with a mega closing ceremony on February 15.

K V Thomas MP inaugurated the valedictory ceremony organised under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.All proceeds from the programme were extended to NGOs for supporting the disabled.

The closing ceremony included ‘Saksham’ exhibition for creating awareness on the responsible use of fuel and fuel efficiency products and services; ‘Varnam’ painting exhibition and prize distribution, inter-collegiate quiz and ‘Santhwana Sandhya’ music programme.

Started as Oil Conservation Week in 1991 by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, the nationwide campaign eventually became a very efficient tool in creating and spreading awareness among the masses about the importance of conservation of petroleum products.
