Kerala Blasters’ fans hurt, security staffer held in a scuffle

Two Kerala Blasters’ fans on Friday night were injured when a scuffle broke out between the home team’s fans and the personnel of a private security firm outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

KOCHI: Two Kerala Blasters’ fans on Friday night were injured when a scuffle broke out between the home team’s fans and the personnel of a private security firm outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here just before the start of the Blasters’ final home fixture against Chennaiyin FC .“Two persons have been hospitalised. We’re yet to record their statement. Only after the process, we’ll  register the case,” said K G Vipin Kumar, SHO, Palarivattom.

The police also arrested the staff of the private security firm-Thunderforce- who were allegedly involved in the scuffle. “Fans had assembled at the entrance to the VIP Gate to catch a glimpse  of their favourite stars. As cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar arrived at the venue, the fans rushed towards him. The security personnel barred them from approaching Tendulkar. This led to the scuffle,” said an officer of Palarivattom station.However, a ‘Thunder Force officer said it were the Blaster’s fans who assaulted the security staff.
