Train service restored

Thanks to the receding water level under various bridges along the Ettumanoor-Kottayam route, train services which were cancelled on the stretch Wednesday were resumed on  Thursday. 

KOCHI: Thanks to the receding water level under various bridges along the Ettumanoor-Kottayam route, train services which were cancelled on the stretch Wednesday were resumed on  Thursday. The 20 km/hr speed restriction imposed on trains taking three railway bridges in the Ettumanoor-Kottayam section was also relaxed by Thursday evening.

“Still, the Engineering Department is continuously monitoring the water level under seven bridges in the Kayamkulam-Kottayam-Ernakulam stretch,” said a railway officer.

Meanwhile, train services at the Punalur-Bhagvathipuram Ghat section have been partially cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions.

They include the Tirunelveli-Palakkad Palaruvi Express (16791) which is partially cancelled between Tirunelveli and Kollam. It will depart from from Kollam Junction till July 22 and its pairing train Palakkad-Tirunelveli Palaruvi Express (16792) leaving Palakkad Jn at 1600 hours, will be short terminated at Kollam Junction.
