KOCHI:Two youths, who were part of a group of revellers out to celebrate the Eid holiday, on Saturday went missing after they got washed away by the giant waves lashing the Kuzhuppilly Pallathamkulangara beach.  Ayyappadas, 19, son of Lenin, ‘Kalathil’ and Ashique son of Naufal, Vypeen Padam are the duo who got washed away.  Ashitha and Greeshma, sisters of Ashique and Ayyappadas, respectively, who were pulled to safety, were given medical aid at a private hospital. T V Shibu, Sub-Inspector, Munambam police, said after one of two youths got caught in the waves, the other jumped into the water in a bid to save him.  

Incidentally, a warning cautioning visitors had been put up on the beach. A joint rescue operation by the Coast Guard(ICG),  Navy, Coastal police and Marine Enforcement wing has been launched to find the missing youth.

Man drowns while taking bath

A man hailing from Thiruvaniyoor met with a watery grave while taking a dip in an abandoned quarry near Tripunithura. Unnikrishnan, 65, is the deceased.
