Seed money, free clothes distributed  

More than a thousand women gathered on the FACT ground at Eloor on Sunday for the women empowerment programme ‘Amrita Sree’, devised by Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

KOCHI: More than a thousand women gathered on the FACT ground at Eloor on Sunday for the women empowerment programme ‘Amrita Sree’, devised by Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Actor Salim Kumar inaugurated the function. Seed money of Rs 30,000 along with free clothes was distributed to women belonging to various communities in the district during the programme.

‘Amrita Sree’ kicked off with the objective to provide one lakh jobs to women through 5,000 self-help groups (SHGs) in a span of five years, has exhibited an enormous growth in fifteen years with the strength of 20 ,000 SHGs. “The initiative of Amma aiming to make every woman in the society self-reliant is worth applauding. The positive energy that Amma provides to people fills our hearts,” said Salim Kumar.
