Kalamassery police registered a case against two teachers of the Al Ameen Public School, Edappally, after they allegedly forced a student to write examination, while keeping him kneeling for three-and-a-half hours. The police registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act, after the father of the student who is studying in the sixth standard, lodged a complaint against the teachers.

According to police officials, on September 27, the two teachers made the student kneel and write his examination. The teachers were apparently punishing the student for violating some rules. The police have registered an FIR against the physical education teacher as the first accused and the supervisor as the second accused.

T P M Ibrahim Khan, the manager of the school, claimed that the complaint was baseless. According to him, the boy was donning an ‘improper’ hairstyle and even after several warnings, the student continued with the hair style. “This is why the teachers made him write the examination in another classroom. They are not aware of the student being forced to kneel and write exams. There is no issue now and the student is still studying here,” he said.
