Two get life imprisonment for sending parcel bomb to lover in West Bengal

The victim identified as Aparna Ghosh died in 2011, after a bomb she received via courier, kept between pages of a book, exploded.

KOLKATA: Two people were awarded life imprisonment by Malda court on Thursday for sending parcel bomb to a woman teacher who refused the love proposal of one of the accused.

“In Malanchapally area of Malda town, a teacher named Aparna Ghosh had died in 2011 by the explosion of a parcel bomb sent by accused Raj Kumar Rishi and Prince Ghosh. The court has found the duo guilty of the crime after examining 36 witnesses,” a source said.

The killing of a woman by jilted lover through parcel bomb kept inside pages of a book and which detonated while opening the book was very new to the state and had astonished the police officials of Malda district and the state.

The book was sent to the victim Aparna Ghosh via courier service. The accused were tracked down and arrested in 2011 through the address available in the courier service.
