Trinamool MP Anupam Hazra may land a role in Bollywood

If Hazra accepts the offer, he would be the first MP not only from Trinamool Congress but also from entire Bengal to work in Hindi films while being an active MP in Lok Sabha.

KOLKATA: Controversial Trinamool Congress MP from Bolpur, Anupam Hazra may venture into Bollywood soon! According to the former Vishwa Bharati professor, he has received a request from famed Bollywood director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in professional social media platform LinkedIn.

Expressin his happiness, he posted the screenshot of the request from Chopra with caption “....another big
one...!!! ...a bit surprised...!!!” on Facebook on Thursday. Speculations are rife that the ‘Munna Bhai’ series and ‘3 Idiots’ director may soon offer Hazra a role in his upcoming film.

This may be the second ‘offer in the offing’ after the professor had earlier received a request of another Bollywood director Shoojit Sircar, known for his films such as ‘Piku’, ‘Madras Cafe’, ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Yahaan’. Though the Trinamool MP has remained tight-lipped over his responses to the offers, sources close to Hazra revealed  that any consideration for movie offers would be taken after consulting the party
supremo Mamata Banerjee.

The controversial Trinamool MP had earlier faced rebuke of Birbhum district Trinamool strongman Anubrata Mondal and Mamata Banerjee herself after some of his posts on the social media did not go down well with the party leadership. He had posted a meme of him giving ‘bhai phonta’ to Anubrata Mondal on the Bengali sibling festival on November 2. That did not go down well with the Birbhum strongman who took strong exception of him being portrayed as a woman, to which Hazra posted another video on the social media website seeking an apology.

Trinamool’s MP from Ghatal, Deepak Adhikary a.k.a ‘Dev’ is a star in Bengali film industry Tollywood.

The party also has yesteryear Bengali actors such as Shatabdi Ray and Tapas Pal, who is now in CBI custody for his connection with the Rs 15,000-crore ponzi Rose Valley scam, as its Lok Sabha representatives.
