NEW DELHI: Amid the heated election campaigning for the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat polls, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asked the Narendra Modi government at the Centre to stop delivering "hollow" speeches and quit if it was unable to check price rise and provide employment.

"Mehngi gas, mehnga ration, band karo khokhla bhashan, daam bandho, kaam do, varna khali karo singhasan," Gandhi tweeted.

The message in Hindi translates to "costly cooking gas, dearer food items, stop delivering hollow speeches, fix price rise, give jobs or else quit the seat of power".

Along with the tweet, Gandhi also attached a news report of a Hindi daily on rising prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other items. The news report posted on the twitter was titled LPG price hiked 19 times in 16 months.

During his Gujarat election campaign, Gandhi had attacked the Modi Government over price rise, unemployment, demonetisation, poor economy and GST. Through his attacks over the issues concerning the common man, Gandhi had reportedly been able to strike a chord with the masses especially on the social media platforms.
