CPI wants government to take over Kovalam Palace, adjoining land

Taking a stern stand against the move to lease out the Kovalam Palace and its adjoining land to a private hotel group by the government, the CPI State Secretariat on Friday decided to raise the pitch for government take over and protection of the historical monument and its land.
The Secretariat noted that there was no reason as of now to effect a change in the stand of the previous LDF Government in this regard.
The Secretariat asked the government to withdraw from its controversial move to lease out the palace and land to the RP Group of companies owned by Hotel Leela.
It said the government should stop playing hide and seek on the palace
