In the past three decades few have contributed to the film industry as Balachandra Menon has. In his 36-year-long film career, he has played many roles - that of as actor, director, composer, singer, editor and producer.

Apart from acting, Menon, for quite some time, had been busy with his new book ‘Ithirineram Othirikaryam’, which mainly focuses on his films and his film career.

The book also has write-ups by Mammootty, P T  Usha and Resul Pookutty about Menon’s films.

Actor Madhu released the book by handing over a copy to lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi at University Senate Hall here on Saturday.

The book release was followed by various cultural programmes. A photo exhibition was held at Kanakakunnu Palace here, showcasing the journey of Balachandra Menon in the film field.

Actor Nedumudi Venu, the hero of Menon’s movie ‘Achuvettante Veedu’, and Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor led a discussion on films. A get-together, ‘Oru Vattom Kudi’, with actors who have worked with Balachandra Menon, saw actors sharing their experiences with him. Actor Kaviyoor Ponnamma led the get-together.
