SSLC Valuation Camp to Begin on March 29

The valuation camp of SSLC examination - slated from March 10 to 22 - will begin on March 29 and annual exams of other classes will be held in the first and last week of March.

The valuation camp of SSLC examination - slated from March 10 to 22 - will begin on March 29 and annual exams of other classes will be held in the first and last week of March.

A decision to this effect was taken following a meeting of the monitoring committee of the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) here on Thursday.

The Lower Secondary Scholarship (LSS) and Higher Secondary Scholarship (HSS) exams will be held on February 22 and March 1 respectively.

“Unlike previous years, applications will not be invited from science and mathematics teachers to attend valuation camps as it has been made compulsory for all of them. However, they can give preferences of valuation centres online,” a senior official said.

The meeting also discussed ways to ensure that there are at least 200 working days from next academic year onwards.

This was in the wake of the loss of a number of working days this year owing to natural calamities and other holidays.

Representatives of Congress-affiliated Government School Teachers Union (GSTU) suggested that SSLC exams should be conducted in the forenoon session, on the lines of the higher secondary (Plus-II) examination.

The SSLC exams are currently conducted in the afternoon owing to the time delay in getting the question papers transferred from treasuries and banks.

However, there have been demands from parents and teachers for the past few years that conducting SSLC exams in the forenoon session  would suit the students better.

Top officials of the Directorate of Public Instruction, Pareeksha Bhavan and representatives of various service organisations attended the meeting.
