The parents of new born babies in the state will get SMS reminders in their mobiles about the details of mandatory vaccines to be taken for their kids. “Five messages will be sent,” Panchayat and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer said.
“The facility will be implemented by the local bodies through the Information Kerala Mission (IKM) with the support of the National Rural Health Mission,” he said.
The parents who register the birth of their children online in the hospitals will get the SMS alerts.
The SMS reminder is an integrated programme that is connected with the hospital kiosk.
The facility will help the parents to give proper vaccination to their newborns.
The Minister said that instructions had been given to the IKM to cooperate with the State IT Mission for providing information regarding birth, death and marriage registration through SMS. Muneer said that instructions will also be given to provide necessary details with regard to the position of files, tax payment, building tax and other things through SMS.
