Chief Secretary E K Bharat Bhushan has said that ADGP Intelligence T P Senkumar was selected to all-India civil services on the basis of general merit.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the Chief Secretary said Senkumar applied for civil services in general category in 1982 and was selected to the Kerala cadre in the general category.  The Chief Secretary’s clarification comes in the wake of allegations by a section of the media that he was selected to the civil services producing a fake caste certificate to avail reservation benefits under ST category.

Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan had earlier stated that the allegations were baseless.

IPS ASSN BACKS SENKUMAR

Meanwhile, the executive committee meeting of IPS Assn Kerala Chapter  held here expressed concern over the attempts by a section of media to malign ADGP Intelligence T P Senkumar over the issue of his appointment to the all-India service.  In a statement, Assn secretary and Headquarters IG Manoj Abraham said the vilification was done taking advantage of the  action taken by certain authorities, allegedly based on an anonymous petition.

“The contents of the petition could have been easily verified and clarified by the Cadre Controlling Authority. The IPS Assn urges the govt to inquire into the circumstances that led to such vilification and to clarify the matter at the earliest,” the statement said.
