Infrastructural Facilities Set to be Improved

Health and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar has said that more funds would be sanctioned for improving the infrastructural facilities for the smooth conduct of the Attukal Pongala festival scheduled to be held from February 8 to 17.
Inaugurating the review meeting organised ahead of the fest, he said urgent measures have to be taken to improve the drainage facilities. KSUDP has agreed to sanction Rs 1 crore for the reconstruction of manholes. The repair works of the roads will be completed in a time-bound manner. Drinking water will be provided in an effective manner, he said.
Repair of streetlamps will be carried out. As part of strengthening the security, around 4,000 police personnel will be deployed during the festival days.
CCTV cameras will start functioning from the beginning of the festival days. Sufficient number of KSRTC buses will be operated in the routes concerned. The service of Fire and Rescue Services personnel will be available on the temple premises. Medical teams of all streams of health services will also be present.
Parking facility will be extended in view of the rush during the festival days. The City Corporation will be entrusted with the sanitation work, said the Minister. The ADM has been asked to coordinate the efforts.
The Chief Minister and other Ministers will attend the next review meeting.
