THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will support and offer assistance to innovations, bank’s Kerala region chief general manager Ramesh Tenkil has said.

He was speaking after releasing the poster for the MIT-Tata Center Innovation Workshop organised by TechTop-2014 at a function held at NABARD regional office here the other day.

“NABARD will support and give assistance for innovations which may come from an individual or a group irrespective of farming or non-farming innovations,” Tenkil said.

“As the state and central governments are encouraging start-ups by students, this workshop is a golden opportunity for entrepreneurial enthusiasts,” said TechTop trustee Prof V K Damodaran.

Technopark former CEO Radhakrishnan Nair, TechTop chief coordinator Moossa C Kandy, NABARD general manager Ramesh and AGM Mohanan were present at the function.

MIT-Tata Center Innovation Workshop, organised by TechTop-2014, is a design and innovation workshop for engineers, engineering students and young entrepreneurs. The one-week residential workshop will be held at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology here from July 20 to 26.

Those attending the workshop can experience hands-on activities, including ideation, design, fabrication and validation of solutions, together with researchers from MIT, USA and other mentors. The programme has received an overwhelming response from top institutions such as IIT Delhi and Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.

The participation is based on the registration made through the website www.techtop.in. The last date to register is July 12.
