THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major blast occurred at the yard of the KSEB sub-station at Paruthippara, that resulted in power failure in several parts of the city on Tuesday night.
The blast occurred in the transformer at 8.30 pm. Fire tenders were brought in to extinguish the fire. Though power supply was resumed after availing of power from the Edamon grid, in several places the lines could not support the load.
Following this, certain restrictions were effected on several lines. KSEB sources said that repair works had been started on a war footing and complete resumption of power supply would be achieved by morning.
