Police Athletics Meet From Today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 64th All- India Police Athletics Meet will begin at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here on Monday with a colorful march-past and cultural performances by the trainees of Sports Authority of India (SAI) - Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE) and CRPF.  Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the five-day meet at 4.30 pm. This will be followed by aerobic display, march-past and cultural and sports performances by CRPF and SAI-LNCPE.

The championship will see the participation of around 1,500 male and female athletes from all state police teams except Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland as well as from central reserve forces like Border Security Force (BSF), CRPF, CISF, Services and ITBP.

Competitions will take place in 28 events in men’s category and 24 in women’s category.

 Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be the chief guest during the closing ceremony on September 11.
