Youth Drowns in River

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:A 23-year-old youth drowned in the Karamana river at Moonnamoodu on Tuesday after he lost his footing when he got down into the river to take a ball. The deceased is Harikrishnan, son of Harikuttan, of Chowalloor, Vilappilshala. The Vattiyoorkavu police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Police said the incident might have occurred between 3 and 4 pm when Harikrishnan, along with his three friends, arrived on the banks of the river for a bath.

“Before getting down into the river, the team played with a ball and it accidentally fell into the river. Harikrishnan got down into the river and drowned,” a police official said. Harikrishnan is survived by mother Minikumari, sisters Haripriya and Harikrishna besides his father.
