Renovated Theatre to be Opened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The Tagore Theatre at Vazhuthacaud has been renovated and is about to start functioning. The state government has spent  Rs 23.04 crore on the renovation of the theatre. The modernised theatre will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on September 16 at 5 pm.

Information and Public Relations Minister K C Joseph will preside over. Health Minister V S Sivakumar, Mayor K Chandrika and Sashi Tharoor MP will be the chief guests.

Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson, Information and Public Relations Secretary Rani George and Director Mini Antony will participate in it.

The inaugural ceremony will be followed by the screening of a documentary on Gurudev, Rabindra Sangeeth by Abradita Banerjee and group and folk songs by Indian People’s Theatre Association, Alappuzha. The new theatre will host programmes of the traditional art forms of Kerala as well as national and international cultural programmes.
