Three Held for Attack on Policemen

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The Mangalapuram police on Friday arrested three persons for allegedly  manhandling policemen the other day. The accused are Praveen, Sunil Kumar and Manoj Kumar. According to police, the three accused attacked the officials on Thursday in retaliation to the arrest of their friend. The accused were produced before the Magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Woman Held for Theft

T’Puram: The Peroorkada police on Friday arrested a housemaid for allegedly stealing valuables from a residence at Kowdiar. The accused is Kumari, 40, a native of Karakulam. Police said the theft occurred last week at the residence of a doctor. The accused stole around Rs 1,000 and an SBT cheque book.

Held for Cheating Job Aspirant

T’Puram: The Fort police on Friday arrested a 42-year-old man on charges of cheating a job aspirant after giving him the false promise of a job in the VSSC.

The accused is Murugan, a native of Panagode near Nedumangad. Police said the accused had collected Rs 2 lakh from him.

“The accused had collected the said amount years ago and he reportedly went absconding. The incident came to light after the victim, a native of Manacaud, lodged a complaint recently,” the police said. The accused has been produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody

Youth Held on Assault Charges

T’Puram: The Medical College police on Friday arrested a 26-year-old youth on charges of assaulting a man four months ago. The accused has been identified as Aneesh alias Kozhukkatta Aneesh, a native of Parottukonam.

According to the police, the accused had assaulted a person named Antony, causing severe injuries on his head. “Ever since the incident, the accused had gone absconding and he was spotted by a police official on Thursday evening. Aneesh is notorious for his anti-social activities and several cases were charged against ,” the police said.
