Aquatic Championship Comes to Close

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The closing ceremony of the Inter-house Annual Aquatic Championship of the Sainik School Kazhakootam, was held at the Somiah Aquatic Complex, the school swimming pool. Major General CP Singh, Additional Director General, NCC, Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate, was the chief guest. He gave away the trophies and medals to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the cadets to take sports and games seriously to lead a healthy and a balanced life. “ Mental and physical well-being is the biggest asset of a human being,” said the General.

The chief guest was given a smart Guard of Honour by the School NCC Contingent upon arrival. He then reviewed the parade and laid a wreath at the Stupa of Remembrance. Later, the General was given a presentation on the school by the principal, Col A Rajiv.

The General visited various training areas, class rooms, hostels and expressed his immense satisfaction at the excellent facilities available at the school for the cadets. A detailed ground briefing on the firing range was given by Officer Commanding SS Coy NCC, Lt Cdr Gireesh Gopidas.

Prasad house lifted the overall championship trophy in the senior category while Vallathol house emerged as champions in the Junior category. Cadets Yash Singh and Srijit U were adjudged champions among seniors and cadet Anurag Kumar was adjudged individual champion among Juniors. The General was accompanied by the first lady of the Directorate Neera Singh.
