38th Soorya Festival to Begin on Sept 21

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 38th Soorya Festival will commence on September 21. Mayor K Chadrika  will inaugurate the fest at the Co-bank auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram. The inaugural film will be ‘Ottal’, directed by Jayaraj, which had received the state award for the best film.  The main actor of the film, Vasudevan, (Vasavan) will attend the event. Soorya Krishnamoorthy, president Soorya Stage and Film Society, said on Thursday that around 1,000 artists from various parts of the country would take part in the event. “K J Yesudas will sing for the 38th consecutive year in the  festival while it will be Shobana’s 25th year,” he said. He  also said that the National Theatre Fest would be restricted to delegates. “There are only 500 seats available. The ticket costs about `100 each. There will be 30 dramas and with a ticket of `100,” he added. The film festival will be held from September 21 to 30; the dance and music festival will be held from October 1 to 10; the National Theatre Festival from October 10 to 20; Jalsa Ghar (Hindustani chamber concert) will be held from October 21 to 31.
