THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bringing differently-abled children into the mainstream is one of the main objectives of the Education Department, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb has said.
He was inaugurating the state-wide distribution of aid for differently-abled children at the Government HSS, Aruvikkara. Wheel-chairs, spectacles and hearing aids will be distributed as part of the project.
The government will provide assistance of up to `8,000 for conducting corrective surgeries.
“Teaching differently-abled children requires patience and commitment on the part of resource teachers. The government has doubled the salary of resource teachers, realising their important role,” Education Minister Abdu Rabb said.
K S Sabarinadhan MLA presided over the function. A Sampath MP, district panchayat president Anjsajitha Russel and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Project Director E P Mohandas were among those present at the function.
