Stadium to be Thrown Open Today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Thiruvananthapuram district will have one more arena for sporting activities when the multi-purpose indoor stadium at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Vakkom is thrown open to the public on Tuesday.

The sporting facility which has been built at a cost of Rs 48 lakh allocated in the Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat’s annual budget for financial years 2014-15 and 2015-16 will be inaugurated by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala at 3 pm on Tuesday.

The inauguration of the merit evening will also be carried out during the occasion. B Sathyan MLA is to preside over the inaugural function in which district panchayat president Ansajitha Russell will deliver the keynote address.

District panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel will give away complimentary prizes for students who secured good results in various qualifying examinations.
