TRAI's Consumer Outreach

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will organise a ‘telecom consumer outreach’ programme at the Institution of Engineers (India), opposite to Kanakakkunnu Palace here, from 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

Sibichen K Mathew, advisor to TRAI and regional head of Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, will address the gathering during the function.

The public are invited to attend the programme to know about their rights and duties as subscribers of mobile phone, land phone, cable TV, etc.

“There are eight telecom service providers in the Kerala service area. Many consumers are not aware of the regulations issued by TRAI to protect the interest of the consumers,” TRAI said.

.When it comes to cable television subscribers, TRAI said all should switch over to digital set top boxes to receive the television signals in the long run. The advantages of the new system will be discussed during the programme.
