THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s wife Sunanda was cremated at the Santhikavadom here on Wednesday evening. Sunanda, 66, died on Tuesday at a hospital in Mumbai, where she was undergoing treatment for cancer.
The body was brought to the couple’s residence here on Wednesday afternoon. The last rites were performed by her grandson Tashi Norbu. The couple’s only daughter Aswathi is an IPS officer posted in Mumbai.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, CPM leaders Pinarayi Vijayan, M A Baby and V Sivankutty MLA, ADGP Rishiraj Singh, Shaji N Karun, Sunny Joseph, Suresh Kumar, Menaka and several other prominent personalities from different walks of life paid their last respects.
