THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The whereabouts of the 24-year-old youth who went missing in Neyyar River near Erattinpuram at Aruvikkara on Saturday is still unknown, said Maranalloor police on Sunday. According to the police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel with the help of local divers had continued their search operations on Sunday after Nishanth, son of Sasi and Omana of Chenniyode near Maranalloor, was reported missing on Saturday.
Police said the river stretch along the area has lots of underwater rocks that had made the search difficult and dangerous for the divers to search the riverbed thoroughly. The currents too were very strong on account of the recent rains and the opening of shutters of the Neyyar Dam.
Nishanth, a daily wage worker, along with his three friends were swimming in the river when he was swept away by a strong current.
