Chit-fund Owner Found Murdered

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  A 47-year-old chit fund owner was found murdered on the roadside, the other night at Palode. The deceased has been identified as Mohanan Nair, a resident of Nandiyode near Palode.

The Palode police registered a case and a probe has been initiated in connection with the incident. According to the police, the incident may have occurred at around 10.30 pm on Sunday when Nair was asked to come out of his residence by a stranger. Apparently, Nair stepped into an autorickshaw along with  the stranger and proceeded towards Nedumangad direction. This information was taken from the statements made by the son and daughter of the deceased. However, Nair was found stabbed to death beside the Thenkashi-Thiruvananthapuram highway, police said.

According to the statement made by the son, Sandeep, Nair was called by a person who wore a blue jeans and shirt. Later, Nair came back to the residence for changing the dress and again went outside in a hurry. While going out, Nair said that he was going to Palode police station. However, the autorickshaw was found to have gone in the opposite direction which raised suspicions in their mind, the police added.

The police also said that some locals had heard noises of a scuffle and verbal fight inside the autorickshaw. They ignored it thinking of it as some sort of brawl. The body of Nair was found lying in a pool of blood.
