Gadgil to Lead Wikipedia Workshop

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Environmentalist Madhav Gadgil with his experienced team will lead a two-day Wikipedia workshop to be jointly organised by Swadeshabhimani Media Study Centre and the Centre for Internet and Society in association with the Wikipedia fraternity of Kerala in the capital on May 4 and 5.

The workshop, to be held at Vakkom Moulavi Foundation Trust Hall, Thekkinmoodu, is for those who wish to contribute contents on Kerala or translate pages in English on Kerala in the Wikipedia encyclopaedia. Professor Gadgil and a team of experienced Wikipedia editors will lead the workshop.

Wiki Malayalam contents are slowly increasing. And more volunteers are needed to contribute more contents on Kerala in Malayalam and English as well as to translate valuable contents on various matters published in Wikipedia. Wiki is a collaborative work of volunteers who want to spread the power of knowledge to the world, said Ram Kamal of Swadeshabhimani Media Study Centre.

Professor Gadgil is on a mission to have a set of volunteers for protection of the fragile environment. This workshop will generate mass interest among those concerned with environment, said Professor V K Damodaran, chairman of Centre for Environment and Development.
