THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: From the stylish seed ornaments to popular terrcotta jewellery, gorgeous pieces of art are on display at Mahima craft bazaar organized by Tejas, a city-based house of artwear. Women entrepreneurs and more importantly  artisans and designers from various parts of India have showcased a range of exclusive jewellery at the bazar going on at Women’s Club, Kowdiar.

“We  source our products from artisans from small villages, buying products that are especially made by women. By empowering a new set of students with jewellery making skills, Tejas has been perpetuating a new and yet different type of social responsibility,’” says Sarswathy who owns the store.

Among the lifestyle projects on display are  Dokra jewellery made by tribal  women in Orissa, seed jewellery produced by a women only NGO in TamilNadu,  black metal jewellery assembled by the rural women of Rajasthan, Kolhapur,  Thushi and much more.

“In addition to this regular terracotta jewellery making classes at Tejas has encouraged Deepika, Reena and Sankari to take up this art and display their work at this exhibition,” she says.

The sale also offers Christmas decor by Jingle bells, artist Vinisha, cool cotton apparel by Cotton Square designed by Indira, organic soaps and lotions by Body Tree conceptualized by Ranjini Krishnan and more.
Following the recent money crunch Tejas is also launching the first of its kind online portal for jewellery shopping with a virtual walk through Tejas from your PC at home! “This web portal will allow anyone, anywhere, at any time to visit the store, take a stroll, see items on display that they like and buy it with just a few clicks,” Tejas can be accessed at www.tejasjewellery.com
