Kerala health sector poised for transformation: Minister

Health Minister K K Shylaja said the state’s health sector would witness a transformation with the coming together of the Comprehensive Primary Health Care Mission and Aardram Mission.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K K Shylaja said the state’s health sector would witness a transformation with the coming together of the Comprehensive Primary Health Care Mission and Aardram Mission.

She said Aardram, Comprehensive Primary Health Care mission, e-Health and clinical establishment bill would be brought in at the earliest. While inaugurating the national meet of medical students here, the minister said the structure of health care system would be revised so that the people get the best of medical facilities.

Though Kerala has achieved good health indicators, she said life style diseases have increased and the state has now become the  diabetic capital. She said a comprehensive health programme has been envisaged to tackle the situation. DME Remla Beevi, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Principal Mathew T Thomas, Health University dean Ajith Kumar, Vellore were also present.
