Sethumadhavan, Ken Loach films in retro package at Kerala film fest

International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will honour directors K S Sethumadhavan and Ken Loach in its Retro Package.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will honour directors K S Sethumadhavan and Ken Loach in its Retro Package, while Contemporary Focus will see films of Mia Hansen Love.


K S Sethumadhavan’s five classics - ‘Anubhavangal Paalichakal’ (1971), ‘Punnarjanmam’(1972), ‘Marupakkam’ (1990), ‘Achanum Bappayum’ (1972) and ‘Adimakal’ (1969) - are part of the package.
English director Ken Loach’s nine films will also be screened in the Retro Package at IFFK.


Nine films of the award-winning director, including ‘Fatherland’, ‘Hidden Agenda’, ‘Riff-Raff’, ‘Land and Freedom’ and ‘Looking for Eric’ are part of the package. Film lovers will also get to see the film ‘Kes’ (1969), which was voted the seventh greatest British film of the 20th century in a poll by the British Film Institute.

Noted French filmmaker Mia Hansen Love’s five films are part of the Contemporary Filmmaker in Focus package.


Her film ‘The Father of My Children’ (2009), which won the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival along with other films ‘All is Forgiven’ (2007), ‘Goodbye First Love’ (2011), ‘Eden’ (2014) and ‘Things to Come’ (2016) would be screened.
