THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tension prevailed on the campus of College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET), after two groups of students clashed with each other, leaving many injured. The incident took place on Monday evening when the students of the hostel clashed with the students who are residing as paying guests, over a film promotion event to be held on the campus. However, the issue went beyond control and the clash led to an open fight between student outfits KSU and SFI.

The Sreekaryam police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Police said  the issue started when the first year students of the college residing in the hostel allegedly circulated a poster through Whatsapp claiming that the event was being organised by the hostelers. But day-scholars residing as paying guests outside the campus protested against the move, which led to the clash, police said.

Six students suffered injuries in the clash and they were admitted to the Medical College Hospital. They are Suraj, 19, Anshad, 20, Mohammed Shafeek, 20, Alan Sabu, 18, Aditya Prakash, 18, and Akash Sebastian, 18. The police have also started collecting details of the students involved in the clash.
