Rights panel for probe into frame-up

Kerala State Human Rights Commission directed the district police chief to investigate complaints that Poovar Police had  foisted a criminal case on an MBBS student from an indigent family.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Human Rights Commission directed the district police chief to investigate complaints that Poovar Police had  foisted a criminal case on an MBBS student from an indigent family. Acting on the complaint from the student’s parent, acting chairperson of KSHRC P Mohanadas directed that the investigation should be conducted by an official not below the rank of  DYSP and the report be submitted within 30 days. Sathish Kumari, a Community Development Society (CDS) member, in her compliant alleged that Poovar Police was siding with the influential panchayat president. She said she had raised the issue of the fake ration card used by the local panchayat president.
