THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Not satisfied with your power supply? Starting this week, you will be able to lodge your complaint with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) via WhatsApp.
All you have to do is send your consumer number, electrical section number and nature of complaint to 9496001912.  This is one of four IT-based services being launched by the KSEB on Tuesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the services at the Vydyuthi Bhavan, the KSEB HQ in Pattom, at 4 pm.

Power Minister Kadakampally Surendran will preside over the function. Two of the services - Oorja Dooth and Oorja Souhruda - are aimed at alerting customers about their electricity bills and power outages. Once ‘Oorja Dooth’ is in place, customers won’t be kept in the dark the next time the state government power company plans to switch off power supply to their neighbourhood for repairs. ‘Oorja Dooth’ is an SMS-based service for alerting customers about planned power outages as well as restoration of supply after repairs.

‘Oorja Sohruda’ aims at informing the 1.16 crore consumers of the KSEB about their electricity bills, and the deadlines for paying them without or with fine. The messages will be sent via SMS, e-mails and mobile apps, the KSEB said. This service will help consumers be able to avoid complaints that they have not received their bills and confusions regarding the bill amount.
‘Oorja Souhruda’ had been piloted at the Kesavadasapuram and Ulloor section offices of the KSEB in Thiruvananthapuram city from September 7 this year onwards. On Tuesday, it will be extended state-wide.
