Techies’ noble initiative

A noble deed of providing scholarships for over 80 students was taken up by a few techies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thanks to the initiative of a few techies, over 80 students from financially poor families were provided scholarship for pursuing their Higher Secondary education.
The students were provided assistance through the Prathidhwani Educational Scholarship (PES). The scholarship was instituted by Prathidhwani, the socio-cultural organization of IT employees based in Technopark,  with the help of philanthropists.

The distribution of the final installment of the scholarship was held at the Park Centre in Tehcnopark the other day. Tourism, Devaswom and Cooperation Minister Kadakampally Surendran handed over the scholarship to 80 students at the function. Technopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair offered felicitations.
Prathidhwani president Vineeth Chandran and Secretary Rajeev Krishnan spoke on the occasion.

The sponsors of the PES programme were also honored during the function. Career Guidance Specialist Gopakumar Karakkonam spoke to the students about different career opportunities that lay ahead for them.
Prathidhwani provided a monthly scholarship of Rs 24,000 for each student from BPL families who secured A+ for all subjects in the 2015 SSLC examinations. Monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 was provided for two years during which the students completed their Higher Secondary course.
Prathidhwani had distributed the first  and second installments of PES in October and December, 2015.
P Vijayan IPS, Anupama IAS and the then Technopark CEO Girish Babu had handed over the scholarship.
