Murder suspect Cadell admitted to Mental Health Centre in Kerala capital

Cadell Jeansen Raja, the accused in the  Nanthancode massacre case, was admitted to the Mental Health Centre at Oolampara near Peroorkada on Tuesday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cadell Jeansen Raja, the accused in the  Nanthancode massacre case, was admitted to the Mental Health Centre at Oolampara near Peroorkada on Tuesday.

According to the police, he was shifted to the hospital after he reportedly behaved violently in the district prison on Monday night. Cadell had been remanded in judicial custody and sent to the prison.

Though the prison authorities took him to the General Hospital, he was referred to the Mental health centre. The hospital authorities said Cadell will be kept under observation for the next 10 days. However, the police will also keep an eye on him in the hospital. The police said he was to be produced before a local court on Wednesday.

Cadell had earlier shown signs of mental imbalance, while in police custody. The police also had sought the assistance of psychiatrists during interrogation.

Cadell, 30, was arrested in connection with the murder of his family members earlier this month. He had murdered his father, mother, sister and a 70-year-old relative.
