THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor P Sathasivam appealed to the people to make use of the National Lok Adalat to be held at all court centres in the state on Saturday for speedy resolution of their long-pending cases.
The Lok Adalat is not confined to court cases alone but will deal with criminal compoundable cases, motor accident claims, civil cases, revenue cases, MNREGA, electricity and water (excluding theft) cases, sales tax, income tax, indirect taxes, banking, insurance, pay- related service matters and retirement benefits. The Lok Aadalat will also take up disputes regarding survey and boundary, transfer of registry, mutation matters, land disputes including compensation for acquisition, labour disputes and heirship claims.
Since the success of the Lok Adalat will depend on the involvement and wholehearted cooperation of the executive, the Governor also requested the state government departments and the authorities concerned to help people bring such matters to the forum by actively liaising with the legal service authorities and committees.
