T’Puram Express talked to the film crew when they arrived at the main venue to watch other films. Randu per (Two persons), the debut movie of director Prem Sankar, is one of the two films which has been selected for the competition. The film tells the tale of two persons who are on the verge of a break-up and is set in  Bengaluru. The lead characters in the two-hour film have been enacted by Basil and Santhy Balachandran. The actors who essayed the other characters in the movie are Suraj Venjaramoodu, Alancier and  Sunil Sukhada.

“The story is not necessarily about the relation between a man and a woman. It can be that between any two human being, irrespective of their gender,” says the director. Randu per takes a peek into the psyche of relationships.According to Prem Sankar, the movie, scripted by him, deals with a very sensitive topic.  “We have experimented with the making,” he said.  For Prem Sankar, the film is close to his heart. After years of working in the advertising industry, he made a full-fledged commercial movie with the help of his friends. Settled in Bengaluru, Prem Sankar is now happy that the IFFK has selected this film as one in the International Competition section.

“I was a regular delegate of IFFK. I am happy to see my film being premiered here. The film will also get a mainstream release soon and it is expected to hit the theatres early next year,” Prem Sankar said.

Talking about the film, Prem said the film is a simple love story and it is also an attempt to deliberate upon the complex issues in human relationships. “For me, this film is not a commercial or an arty one. It’s just a film,” Prem added.  Basil, well known among the Malayali film audience through movies like Cinema Ticket and Mannar Mathai Speaking-2 said, “I have a lot of expectations from Randuper.”

“Though I have acted in some films, this is my first venture with friends. Prem is a close friend and the film was a dream project.  Finally, it happened. I am sure this film will engage you,” said Basil. Santhy Balachandran who accompanied the team also praised the makers of the film. This was her debut film. She also acted in ‘Tharangam’ alongside Tovino Thomas and Balu Varghese. “I was called by Prem Sankar after he watched a play in which I did a role. I have been on the acting circuit right from my childhood. Apart from acting, I love painting too.  However, this offer came to me all of a sudden,” Santhy said.
She said Randuper helped her to improve her acting skill, especially in front of a camera.
