State exploring ways to boost MICE tourism opportunities

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of its continued efforts at promoting MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions) tourism sector in a major way, the Kerala Tourism Department will organise a workshop on December 15.

The workshop will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran at Mascot Hotel here. The inauguration will be presided over by Tourism and Culture Secretary Rani George.

The aim of the workshop is to draw out a detailed plan and implementation strategy on the MICE segment. The workshop will help in exploring ways and means to lure MICE travellers to the state in a major way. According to the Tourism Department, Kerala is fast emerging as a MICE destination.

With a fine blend of culture and natural settings, Kerala also offers state-of-the-art technology for business meetings, conferences and exhibitions to match global standards.

According to industry experts, the hospitality sector in Kerala remains unmatched in its dedication, service, and support towards its clients.

Followup discussion on tourism policy today

  • A follow-up discussion on the Tourism Policy recently approved by the government, will be held in the capital on Friday. Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will lead the discussions at Mascot Hotel
  • at 10 am.
  • Tourism Secretary Rani George, Tourism Director P Bala Kiran and representatives from the tourism industry will participate in the discussions.
  • The future course of the Tourism Department in the implementation of the policy will depend on the outcome of Friday’s discussions.
