THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the backdrop of an alarming number of recent events involving sexual violence against women in our society, Raising Our Voices Foundation is asking the public to take part in a peaceful march for Gender Justice on Thursday, February 23.

Starting at Marine Drive Grounds , at 8.45 a.m., the march seeks to create awareness for women’s safety in the city, constitutional guarantees on non-discrimination, and the State’s guarantees for law and order.

Enroute the march a written petition is being submitted  to the Attorney General at the High Court.

The petition will request the consideration of pivotal changes in the framework of laws for women safety and empowerment and the speedy implementation of the same by the State law department
The recent National Crime Records Bureau figures officially place Kerala as a State with a very high crime rate in the country, with crimes against women, in particular, higher than other states.

This march aims to bring about discernible changes that can help bring these appalling numbers down in our State.

ROV is a volunteer-run NGO. Their main projects include empowering women and children; providing support and rehabilitation for victims of gender discrimination and domestic violence, and creating awareness about gender issues amongst the youth.
