Speaking at the BJP south zone campaign jatha led by state general secretary M T Ramesh here on Thursday, Kummanam said the CPM had no time to discuss the livelihood issues of people like food, drinking water, land, habitat and labour. “The CPM has become a party of the rich, corporates and  hoarders of black money. It is denying the poor people their constitutional rights,” he said. While the FCI godowns are full of foodgrains, the Government has not been able to implement the Food Security Act. In the last seven months of LDF rule, nobody has received a single cent of land while the state has over 4 lakh hectares of surplus land and 7 lakh hectares of land which had its lease period  expired.

He asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to explain why he was reluctant to go for a second land reform even as families have to set up their houses in five to seven cents of land in several parts of the state. Under the LDF rule, the CPM is unleashing violence against political opponents, he said.  Several BJP workers and even leaders of general secretary K Surendran’s stature were attacked when they were addressing public meetings and participating in the zonal jatha at Cheemeni.

The Opposition Congress has become a total disaster. It has plunged into such a mess that its workers gave 132 beatings to its own leader Rajmohan Unnithan to celebrate the party’s 132th anniversary, Kummanam said.

Isaac creating frenzy
Terming Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac as a  scaremonger ever since the announcement of demonetisation, Kummanam said Isaac created unnecessary frenzy by stating that there would be no currency to pay salary and pensions. Isaac would have to accept the importance of going digital in the banking sector to ensure transparency.

The Government has failed miserably failed in spending a major chunk of the Plan fund of the state though 9 months of the financial year have passed.  Only Rs 6,654 crore of the Rs 24,000 crore Plan fund could be spent so far. Of the Rs 1,409 crore allotted for SC Development only Rs.257 crore could be spent when there is just two-and-a-half months left for the fiscal to end.

District president S Suresh presided. J R Padmakumar, V V Rajesh, Raji Prasad, C Sivankutty, P Sudheer,Karamana Jayan, Madhu Parumala, K Raman Pillai,  Velliyamkulam Parameswaran,  Poonthura Sreekumar, R S Vinod, Viju V Nair and Pappanamkode Saji attended.
