THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: THE district administration has called upon  the students to be part of Haritha Kerala Mission for spreading its message. The students have been asked to adopt and protect a small area, park, beach or water body as part of the mission.

District Collector S Venkatesapathy shared the idea with NCC, NSS and Students Police Cadets in a meeting held at the collectorate here on Tuesday.
“Though the students as part of NCC and NSS activities are engaged in soil/water conservation and afforestation, these were not made part of the Haritha Kerala Mission.” Venkatesapathy said students should come forward and spread the message to others.

He also said that educational institutions  could also adopt a particular region in their locality and engage in various activities like protecting water bodies, afforestation and sending message against plastic hazards.
The Collector also said Haritha Nagaram should be implemented in its true sense.
Sub-Collector Divya S Aiyer said either an institute or a group of colleges and schools could join together in the initiative.
