Topping The Exam NEET-ly

City-based doctor Shabnam S tops Post Graduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-PG)

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When she came to know that she had topped the Post Graduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-PG), city-based doctor Shabnam S had already enrolled herself for post graduation in JIPMER, Puducherry.

“I never expected to be the topper though I had strived hard to find a place among the top 200 ranks. After the news sunk in, the big task ahead for me was to decide whether I should continue pursuing my studies at JIPMER as I had secured the chance to pursue PG in any college in the country,” Shabnam told ‘Express’.
By the time  the NEET-PG results were announced early this week, Shabnam had secured the 19th rank in JIPMER entrance examination. After a lot of thinking, Shabnam finally decided to continue with her post graduation in General Medicine at JIPMER as she believes it is a ‘nationally-reputed institution that gives more opportunities’.

Shabnam, who completed her MBBS from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, wished to do her post graduation in the same institution. “Since I wanted a PG seat in General Medicine here, I needed a rank of around 200 in NEET-PG. Honestly, my preparations were focused more on just being among the first 200 ranks,” said Shabnam with an air of modesty.
