THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poet and activist Sugathakumari on Monday slammed the state government’s new liquor policy saying it was ruining lakhs of families. She was inaugurating a public meet organised by the KPCC against the alleged government drive to increase liquor consumption. “The bill is ‘essentially anti-women’ and will increase women’s woes,” she said.

“As a society, all of us should ask ourselves whether the state can hold its head high in any sphere now. Are we able to process garbage, conserve water sources and protect young children? Everyone should understand the wrongs we committed and undertake corrections,” she said.
