‘Erasing country’s diversity RSS-Sangh Parivar agenda': Kerala opposition leader

Erasing the diversity of the country is the agenda of the RSS and Sangh Parivar and it is a matter of grave concern the ruling government, said Ramesh Chennithala.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Erasing the diversity of the country is the agenda of the RSS and Sangh Parivar and it is a matter of grave concern the ruling government itself is supportive of it and paving the way for a sharp communal divide, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said here on Wednesday.

“Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said strong action would be taken against cow vigilante groups, he has no clear-cut answer on the action to be taken,” he said while inaugurating a dharna organised by the Muslim Coordination Committee in front of the Raj Bhavan here. “What is expected from the Prime Minister are stern measures instead of mere statements,” he said.

Chennithala said the Supreme Court had stayed the Central Government notification imposing curbs on cattle trade and slaughter since it was found the fundamental rights of citizens would be infringed upon. “Minority rights enshrined in the Constitution are not the largesse of Modi,” he said. “The need of the hour is a national movement against atrocities against minorities and Dalits without weakening the democratic and secular forces,” he said.

CPM state committee member Anathalavattom Anandan said Modi’s recent statement flaying the attacks and killings in various parts of the country in the name of cow is only glib talk.
“The words of Modi without any matching action have only zero value. The ban on cattle trade was not against any particular religion but against all. Cutting across religion and caste, all should come forward to resist it,” he said.

Coordination committee president Kayikkara Babu presided over the meet.
Beemapally Rasheed, Hassan Basari Moulavi, A Nizarudeen, Alpha Abdul Khader and A Ibrahim Kutty participated in the dharna.
