THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Traffic restrictions will be in place on Sunday as part of the Vavubali rituals to take place at Shanghumugham and Thiruvallam in the city.
According to a statement issued by the city police, all vehicles bound for the domestic airport terminal from Chakkai will be diverted via Enchackal, Ponnara Bridge and Valiyathura. The police have also prohibited parking of vehicles on both sides of Shangumugham road.
As part of traffic restrictions, no parking will be allowed within a 100-metre radius of the Parasurama temple at Thiruvallam. Parking is allowed on the one side of the air cargo terminal to the old domestic terminal road, open ground belonging to Motor Vehicles Department and Corporation parking area and one side of Shanghumugham-Vettukad road.
The City Traffic Police have also prohibited parking on both sides of the Bypass from Ambalathara to Vazhamuttom considering the convenience of people coming to Parasurama Temple to perform the rituals. Parking will be arranged at the BNV High School ground and the ground on the side of Thiruvallom -Vazhamuttam Bypass.
Heavy vehicles are prohibited on Vizhinjam -Thiruvallom Bypass from Saturday midnight. Heavy goods vehicles should take a deviation at Attakulangara to Killipalam and Pappanamcode routes. The goods and heavy vehicles coming from Vizhinjam side to the city from Saturday midnight will have to move via Mukkola, Uchakada and Balaramapuram.
The goods and heavy vehicles from Chakkai proceeding to Thiruvallom will have to take a turn from Eenchakkal and move via Attakulangara, Killipalam and Pappanamcode.
The vehicles coming from Karumom side will have to deviate from old Thiruvallom junction and proceed to Pachalloor side. The vehicles coming from Kovalam side will have to proceed along bypass to Eenchakkal.
